2 cups packed fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts
1/2 cup Parmesan or Romano cheese, grated
2 or 3 cloves garlic, crushed
salt and pepper to taste

Put the basil and nuts in the food processor.  Walnuts will need to be chopped a bit first.  Pulse the leaves and nuts until chopped coarsely.  Add garlic and pulse some more.  Slowly pour the olive oil in , as you continue to run the processor.  Add the cheese last, scraping down the sides of the bowl, and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Serve with pasta, or spread on slices of toasted bread, crackers, bagels.

JoAnne do you have a good recipe for Pesto sauce or homemade Nutella? I have a friend who swears she has a Nutella addiction and after reading all of her posts, I'm dying to try it myself, without buying a whole container of it in the process :-(
